The Locals -
Here is a tiny taste of what you can expect to find about a few of the locals in the new-look programme. The booklet will be available at the library as well as in restaurants, galleries and Hermanus Tourism from Wednesday 16 June 2014.
By popular demand Richard Cock and Songs of Praise is back with the combined choirs made up of the ProMusica choir joined by choir members of some of the local churches (Dutch Reformed Church, United Church …. ) The orchestra is a mix of local muscians as well as professional musicians who often perform with Camerata Tinta Barocca. This year an added treat are the voices of two top South African soloists – Magdalene Minnaar (soprano) and Nick Nicolaides (tenor). Judging by the ticket sales the demand is indeed very popular!
A great line-up of lunchtime concerts includes talented cellist, Tobias Kotze, the Abagold Choir with a special programme for FynArts and a Bite of Classics with A Volonte Trio made up of Annemarie Rautenbach, Maike Skein and Hein Attwood.
More to follow about the Tutured Tastings, Dinners and Dinees, Shabbat Dinner and Breakfasts with a guest speaker … and the not-to-be-missed Dinner: The Art of Fine Food: a six-course gourmet dinner paired with award winning wines, to be held at La Vierge Restaurant. The evening will be hosted and held together by Chef Garth Stroebel - chef mentor, co-founder of the SA Chef’s Academy and winner of the Lannice Snyman Lifetime Acheivement Award. The participating chefs are: Wayne Spencer(La Vierge), Warwick Taylor (Creation), Eric Bullpit (The Restaurant at Newton Johnson), Lesley Corneilse (Marine Hotel) and Donaldson Makhalemele (Arabella).

Once again the History and Botanical Societies are on the programme: the former with two events - audio-visual presentations by Robin Lee (who needs absolutely no introduction) followed by a two-course meal based on one served at the Marine Hotel in the 1940’s! The Botanical Society will offer a fascinating one day course called Fynbos: Features and Creatures.
